Renoir Movie Review
The Renoir biopic taking the old painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir. What happens when a child Jean returned wounded from the war and fell in love with the latest model of the youth of his father?
Model painter
Gille Director Bourdos kept in a very good costume drama with the facts. In 1915, the old struggle impressionist in a magnificent estate in Cagnes-sur-Mer, near Nice, with the death of his wife, who care about their children Pierre and Jean fighting at the front, and he suffered from arthritis pain hands and knees. Then for a beautiful girl like model. Andrée Heuchling is embarrassing with red curly hair that brings home life, in which only the third youngest child present and a group of housewives and old model and lover. "I love the velvety skin girls," sighed painter of Les Grandes Bathers, painting to be done.
art
War is only playing in the background. According Renoir art should not be involved in the suffering and misfortune. That is, there is already enough. Art should be the same time and focus on what is beautiful. Why does beauty have to be suspicious? Bourdet then Renoir in a biopic or unlock the truth slowly. You can not explain the painting, you should feel. And the pain passes, but the beauty remains. The latter refers to arthritis painter, carrying the chair, and it was difficult for his paintings. Beautiful Andrea kept her going and inspiration.
brilliant graphics
Bourdos attention to the excellent work of Renoir pretty pictures, but make no painter creative struggle topics such as Jacques Rivette is very good with regard to the interaction between the model and the artist in a beautiful liar. Film as Renoir painted with an eye for the faint soft light in the studio, to the sunny garden where olive trees rustle, a beautiful sea view and of course the beautiful body of a new model.
afterthought
And as a little ripple of life on the Riviera in 1915. The son of Jean with serious leg wound back from the front, there is some tension between father and son. The girl, who is played by "and" 21 years, Christa Theret, inspiring father and son. She is a model for a new series of paintings and put Jean, who does not have the ambition or dream, keep track of the film. Jean falls for her. Then he got married and he would like Catherine Hessling in early silent films her husband played a major role. But this time is not included in the film's plot. At the end of the war Jean go again, now as a captain, and of course, much to the dismay of Andrea.
Conflict?
Actually it's not really a film about the painter, even in the later film maker, but more on the interesting figure of a young muse. However, only the paint on the canvas of Renoir, not so much in the film itself. Therefore, there is little progress, very little stress, too little conflict and drama. Veteran Michel Bouquet plays a role both as a painter of old, recording often aesthetically, but overall still very neat and too dim.
conclusion
Film Bourdos gives a beautiful picture of a beautiful resort on the Riviera in 1915. The record was tranquility of the countryside and the sluggish pace is slow at times provide a pleasant atmosphere. But history has a little drama in it was really exciting.
